Fresh from coming off tour with Olly Murs, and after releasing their latest single “What A Night”. The vibrant trio Loveable Rogues catch up with Hussain Manawer

What was life like during Britain’s Got Talent?

Eddie: It was a tense time; we had to do what we had to do. We went in their knowing it was a platform open to a wide audience.

Sonny: We just didn’t want to f*** it up lol anything silly could go wrong at any minute.

Té: it was a great experience as well; it took us from playing in crap places to being able to perform all around the country.

What was it like first being on TV, and the judges showing support along with the public and your family?

Té: It was a really weird concept, because you’re in a bubble of the show. And for the judges to say they like you and you know you’re through and then you see the audience reactions and from whoever is watching to like you is a humbling experience.

Eddie: It was weird we won the night on the semi finals, because the public voted for us that was nuts

Olly Murs! Arena UK TOUR! What was it like when you first got the call?

Eddie: It was a relief, because we knew we wanted something to happen and we wanted to go on a tour but we didn’t know whom it was going to be with. There were a few things in the pot and then out the blue Olly Murs came into the situation, which was an ideal scenario for us because we knew his audiences were going to be massive. We do need to remind ourselves that not every artist gets to sing there.

Té: His audiences were very diverse as well, and it was a huge tour. We learnt so much and were able to perfect our craft and it was good for so many people to see us, and for them to know where not going to fade away as so many do. Performing at the O2, I mean we set ourselves some goals and that was one of them and were happy to say we have done it. You can always aim higher.

Can I get one career highlight from each of you?

Té: Jeez, erm I would say playing at the big arenas.

Eddie: Getting plectrums for our guitars!

Sonny: Getting verified on twitter was cool it was like all our Christmases came at once!

Who orders the most at Nandos?

The question sparked up a big debate with the boys, with Té and Eddie claiming Sonny orders the most at Nandos. It was quite entertaining to watch them banter each other up about this and Sonny in the end agreed to ordering the most but only to share it out with his fellow band mates.

Sonny: And just to say I never order half a chicken it’s always a butterfly chicken!

What was it like shooting your video for What a Night?

Eddie: It was so cool, about 3-4 years ago we were all extras in a music video. So we know how it felt between the extras and the artists. We always tried to get in front of the camera. It was well funny, because there was a director who always kept getting funny when we were all talking, and shouted out “is this a music video or a social club!”

Té: it was weird for so many people just for us, for example our makeup artist, directors etc. it was great it was a house party and was pure bants!

And the single, is it doing well?!

Eddie: So far yeah, the YouTube hits are looking good and the pre-sales and radio support so we just have to hope really that other people like it.

So tell me what is success for Loveable Rogues?

Sonny: Success for us is to get an album out, because know matter what happens in life you will have that album with your songs on it.

Eddie: Sales, so that we can get an understanding of who it is out there that we are reaching too. I don’t mean it a money point of view. And also longevity for Loveable Rogues.

Té: I completely agree, its all about the music. I think people get too involved with the twitter following. It’s easy to gain but hard to sustain. But ultimately its all about the music.

I can imagine you guys spending a lot of time in the studio; tell us what life is like in the studio with Loveable Rogues?

Eddie: It’s real fun, because before BGT it’s not something that we had at our disposal, but now we get to experiment with loads of different sounds and instruments. We actually have our own sound now, and we can tell you what the general gist of what our album will sound like.

Té: You learn so much in the studio; you learn what you want your sound to be and you get to define that with the help from different producers.

Sonny: I feel as if I’ve learnt so much about different instruments just from being in the studio.

What is your advice to every up & coming dancer, singer, belly dancer, rapper etc. who wants to enter the industry?

Sonny: Learn your trade, I mean we gigged so much and learnt so much on the go.

Té: I would have liked someone to tell me its obtainable, but it is hard but you can get there.

Eddie: A lot of people getting signed is the best thing to do, its not, there’s other ways you can go about doing things. There are agencies, and publishing companies, which aren’t as hard to get into as a major label.

Plans of becoming a business mans to writing bars up in the park, I get the 411 with Manchester Born MC Blizzard, on his first ever phone interview!

With an extremely extensive vocabulary and an educated mind, young MC Blizzard speaks on dreams of having something innovative in the public domain. Being surrounded by music since the tender age of 12 Blizzards musical stems grew from being around cousin Shifty. Blizzard went on to highlight how he loved working with his family, as he knew he could rely on them.

“The Art Of Rehearsal” – Blizzard

Whilst speaking with Blizzard he touched upon MCs P Money and Blacks along with radio station Kiss telling me he loves listening to them, as it becomes second nature. I found Blizzard to be very truthful as he opens up on how he loves reading and watching informative things, which differs from the normal of a teen in society today. Blizzard firmly believes everything around him teaches him and loves that music is a great conceptual, and reckons music will be used very soon to help teach subjects in schools.

“I love reading, I love watching informative things everything around me teaches me music is a good way to learn and its good and conceptual you can learn songs quicker then subjects I think someone will come up with a way to learn subjects soon”.

My mum n dad both don’t listen to rap music, my dad loves his punk rock / indie and my mums into music as well and we kind off met in the middle with rap. My dad prefers singers and vocalists rather than rapping but he understands and accepts it. From when I was 11-12 I told myself I was going to pursue this”!

BIG BARS TO SMALL BARS – where do you write?

Where I am, on transport writing lyrics I don’t write in my house I find it weird coz I cant get draw inspiration I like to be in new spot jot lyrics down in my house I cant really draw inspiration from anything

Do you think Manchester provides the same opportunities as London?

The scene has always been quite London centric, if you listen to grime you never really hear from anyone out of London and when I heard I guy from Nottingham he smashed it! London is were its @ but Manchester’s scene is innovative even though its been around for a while.

What’s they key to get your music out there if you’re not from London?

The key to get your music out there when you’re not from London, don’t make your self feel that your different, because were all UK artists, the scene is weird its hard to get yourself out there keep doing what your doing n stay strong.

What was is like to be a battle rapper?

When u go into a battle u no the outcome its all going be tongue and cheek everything said in the battle doesn’t mean anything in the real world. Everyone I’ve battled we’ve had a drink afterwards and had a laugh. Its different the build up & prep the viewers only see one dimension of it. Battling is cool and entertaining I cant complain It will be hypercritical if I complain. It’s a lot of pressure if you get forget the audience is there u do quite well just focus on getting the lyrics out!

London Or Manchester?

London has their own home town glory, and back in the day the music was separate but if u lived in Manchester you would understand its because your subject to it, elbow, oasis, the smith, the music has complete different attitude, London music has been projected to the whole UK but Manchester music is respected.

Blizzard performed LIVE at Hussains House on Thursday 28th March 2013

Topic Of Discussion, tell me what is the Topic Of Discussion?!

Topic of discussion is my mix tape name. my first proper project, I’ve had projects before but back then it was all fun and music wasn’t serious I never thought I could blow from music.

Where do you want this mix tape to take you?

Last year I got a lot of heat, I did a lot of covers on American beats. I got a lot of fans from covers and wanted fans to have a mix tape of my songs and not just my bars that they heard on covers.

Define the work rate you put into your work?

A lot of people spend their time in the studio for me I have to be out, I do spend a lot of time in the studio but I have to be out. I use metaphors and punch lines so I always try to think of something to rap about. In the studio there are not a lot of things you can rap about. But 24/7 I’m working I can be driving and an idea comes into my mind I have instrumentals playing all the time.

You express yourself to the world a lot in your music, how does that feel for you?

It’s important; a lot of people get influenced by their friends. I’m just here to keep it real like I say:

“They say don’t go pop keep it real fam, being real aint going to pay my mothers bills fam”

I’m here to do well, and not to look cool for my friends, its good that I express myself because other people don’t see the bigger picture. I’ve come from the roads, rapping about the roads isn’t keeping it real, getting out of that and buying my mum a new yard is keeping it real.

I saw on twitter Rizzle Kicks tweeted you saying your stuff is the realest stuff they’ve ever heard, what’s that feeling like for you?

It was a big thing for me, because they’re massive. Their different and I like It and for my song to reach out to them and for them to respond the way they did makes me feel as if I am doing something correct.

Did you have any new years resolutions from 2012?

It was to work a lot harder from the last year, and to make something out of my self this year. To work as hard as I can.

What food do you eat in the studio?

Sweets, KFC, enough take always in the studio. I drink a lot of juices love mango juice.

What is the craziest thing someone has ever done to you?

At wireless a fan climbed over the gate to come and get a picture, the fence was high as well and he was like “I want a picture Yungen!” That was crazy because he could have got kicked out because of it!

Blue Tick! Everyone wants a blue tick on twitter, when you got yours did it make any difference to your life?

It’s a good look, because if someone doesn’t know who you are and they see that they automatically think you’re a someone. A lot of people ask me why have you got a blue tick and so and so doesn’t. I mean people get blue ticks for a reason.

3 highlights of your career so far:

Wireless Festival, shout out to Krept and Konan because they got booked for it and bought me on

Going on tour, going around the country and people saying your bars back to you is a crazy feeling. For example going out to Newport and people stopping me in the Chinese shop and asking me for pictures. It felt good because I was with big acts like Chip, and Lethal B.

This may seem small, but my favorite UK artist is Wretch and he talks a lot of sense and is a very mature artist. But when he said he heard my track off the record and said it was inspirational it was a big thing for me. So for that was a big thing for me, not a lot of artists would admit that.

What does 2013 hold for you?

I want this to be the start, I know I’ve been doing things but I want this to be the official start.

So I tweeted, does anyone have any questions for you and got a mad response back, some silly ones so we wont go there but a lot of them relate to young people wanting to collaborate or for your advice on a track. What is your response to this?

I need to sit down and focus on someone’s track; I could listen to it and not be paying attention if you get what I mean. If someone tweets me a track I retweet it and I remember what it was like starting out. You need to work hard and make the right decisions. I know some of the coldest rappers but they just don’t make the right decisions. Something like SBTV as a rapper you need and SBTV freestyle or a Link UP TV or Grime Daily you need these essentials. Also shout out Jamal he helped me a lot and gave me my first warm up session.

What do you order when you go Nandos?

I get half a chicken peretamer, im giving out my order no-one knows about it. You have to get it; sometimes you need to let people know.

What is success for Yungen?

The further you go, the higher your targets get. I remember wanting views, I got views; I wanted followers I got followers. So I want to be the biggest UK rapper but at the same time I want to be the biggest UK Artist. I love road rap (gangster rap) but what’s the chance of that music blowing in the UK. What is the chance of selling out the O2 arena?

He first appeared when he was around 13 years of age, but young star Fugative shows no signs of stopping as his new single OTT consists of what dreams are made off.
Having worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sway, Mz Bratt & Wiley. Young artist Fugative has now taken 18 months out to find and develop himself.
Life has always kept Fugatives in the fast lane from the age of 13 when he released his first single “Summer Time”.

Informing me he is not concerned about YouTube views and rather cares about the appreciation of his music via his fans “as long as I’m making the music I want to make and people like it that’s enough for me”. Not money hungry, and simply in the industry for the passion Fugitive touches on the fact that money is a bonus if it comes.

Recently returning from America due to work Fugative clearly expressed his feelings by emphasizing, “America is SICK!” Now on arrival in 2013 Fugitive mentions how “He hopes the best is still yet to come”. Producing, and writing his own material his latest single is out on January 7th 2013.

Briefly mentioning he would love to work on some carnival sounds in Brazil Fugative mentions how he has learnt and a lot and that no one has seen what he can bring to the table.

Craziest thing someone has ever done?
When I was doing a little tour in Ireland, a proper headline show with a huge stage half way through the performance a girl jumped on stage and jumped on to me! Security dragged her off later on.

Living proof that distributing CDs on by the road side works, BBC DJ Target speaks on how him and & Wiley first discovered the soulful Emily Sande!

BBC 1Xtra DJ Target
Where did the name come from?
It actually came from when we were making our first tape when I was 13 years old at Wiley’s house everyone had names I needed a name, the decks had Target on it, and I was like I going to be called Target for this tape and the tape circulated around the estate and it took off from there, I was assisted by my turn table lol.

How did you come across Emily Sande?
I was judging a talent show in Windsor in 2007/8 the lady who was running the show was called Ruth, she was telling me about her friend who wasn’t at the show. She gave me her CD and told me listen to it. I was with Danny Weed from Roll Deep and played the CD and we were both like “OMG this girl is sick”, Wiley heard the CD too and went to make a song with her called “Never be your woman”. From there I played it on my show, the song took off, and look where Emily is now! Emily goes on to mention it on her DVD as well.

What makes you want to play someone’s music?
Quality, you’ll hear the quality within the first couple of seconds of the music, but it’s the vibe and something has to stand out and grab you. The person has to be humble and honest too.

Who are you looking out for?
Jacob Banks and Shaka there are loads of MCs that are unsigned, I think this is the busiest the scene has been in a long time.

Favorite Quote: “Imaginable is achievable”

Inspiration: General surroundings inspire me and also my family & friends I love to see other people do well. I grew up living next to Dizzee Rascal so I’m used to seeing people go against the norm.

Advice for people wanting to enter the industry:
Firstly, you need to be thick skinned and don’t take no for answer if you’re willing to give up at the first hurdle you’re not going to last. Do you, and don’t copy anyone else be persistent, passionate and have manners. A lot of people expect and take things for granted please & thank you goes a long way I used to get a slap if I didn’t say please or thank you!

The music industry is not an easy thing to break in to, there’s always room for more it’s a myth if they tell you its not, and then you just need to make your entrance. Going in with the wrong attitude is not the key. It takes a lot of hard work you need to persevere and build good relationships with people.

Watch out for: Target TV
Listen to DJ Target:
Friday 7-10pm
Saturday & Sunday 4-7pm
BBC Radio 1Xtra

The Birmingham female MC hailing from a family deeply involved with music well known for her outstanding lyrical flow and bars spoke to me about 2013, Paigey Cakey, Cashtastic, and what success really means for her.

Hitting well over the 450,000 mark with one of her F64’s on SBTV, Leshurr first told me she discovered her talent at the age of 6 whilst growing up listening to American artist Eminem. Inspiration flies from over seas as Leshurr expresses how she would love to work with international icon Lil Wayne due to his character, humor and personality on a track.

Defining success as living comfortably and being in the charts Leshurr also spoke on how she would love to be able to help the people around her. Becoming best friends with Paigey Cakey recently via twitter, Leshurr informs me that Paigey Cakey will be the one to watch out for in 2013! Also going on to mention that Male Artist Cashtastic is destined for greatness, along with South London Artist Sneakbo.

With plans of her own music album a project with Paigey Cakey, ideas for clothing line, and new music videos Leshurr expresses to me how in 2013 she will be “Getting her business woman on!”

Where would you love to go on Holiday?
Holiday reason Id love Miami south beach, I would love to go to this pizza place there where all the famous people go to eat! I’m not really a flying person. I’ve only been holiday once in my whole life. Besides that it’s all just music.

Craziest thing someone ever done?
When I was in hackney I got out the car for band rehearsal 10 girls across the road ran towards me the way they started running towards me and ran started hugging me and crushing me they showed me a lot of love!
